KERNERSVILLE-Thelma J. Comer Davis, 72, died Monday, May 03, 2010 at her daughter's residence after four months of declining health. She was born September 27, 1937 in Guilford Co. to the late Dennis Ervin and Mattie Varner Comer. Thelma had been a resident of Kernersville for over 10 years. She retired from Hanes Hosiery, and was employed with Wal-Mart and Sam's Club as a greeter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Comer, Jr.; and two sisters, Helen Wiles and Maxine Whitley. Surviving are her daughter, Cynthia VanHoy and husband, John of Kernersville; two sons, Rufus W. Daye of Kernersville, Ronnie Edward Daye of King; five grandchildren, Dusty Lynn VanHoy, John G. VanHoy, IV and fiancé©, Jaclyn Mesiano, Christopher Daye, Jordan E. Daye, and Savannah R. VanHoy; four sisters and two brothers, Dot Albertson of High Point, Bill Comer and wife, Carol of Salisbury, Nancy OFerrell and husband, Ralph of Julian, Zelma Bowden and husband Bill of Kernersville, Marie Jones and husband, Garry of Greensboro, Jimmy Comer and wife, Eloise of Hickory; special remembrance of her sons, Bobby, and Larry Karriker; very special friends, Brenda Royal, Shirley Kivett and grandson, Joshua. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 pm Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Johnny Walker officiating.
