Theda Johnston

Mrs. Theda “Chris” Foil  Johnston, 94, went to be with her Lord Monday August 16, 2021at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. She was born August 11,1927, in Kannapolis, NC to the late Robert Monroe Foil and Callie Dorothea Barger Foil.  She was the Dietetic Supervisor for the Forsyth County School System and was later a Research Lab Technician at Bowman Gray School of Medicine.  She was a graduate of the Woman’s College in Greensboro.  In addition, she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Paul Johnston; son, David Mark Johnston; daughter, Janet Johnston Estep; and three brothers, Robert, William, and Gene Foil. She is survived by two sons, Robert Paul Johnston of Winston-Salem, James Steven Johnston and wife Shelley of Rural Hall, and daughter, Jill Diane Johnston of Wilmington; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four sisters, Pat Conner, Nancy Skinner, Eleanor Foil, and Bernice “Gerry” Allen. A funeral service will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday August 23,2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Clocker and Chaplin Major David Johnston officiating. Under current concerns with COVID, Mrs. Johnston will Lie in State for viewing at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel from 9:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, August 22, 2021. The family will not be present. In addition, masks are asked to be worn during the services. The family would like to express their appreciation to the loving and caring staff at Arbor Ridge of Stanleyville.
