Terry Lawrence, Sr.

Mr. Terry Thomas Lawrence, Sr., 78, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain, NC.  Terry was born in Davie County on June 27, 1943, to the late James Thomas Lawrence and Lela Cuthrell Lawrence.  He served his country in the United States Army.  Terry along with his wife, Gail, owned and operated Clemmons Citgo and Clemmons Tow Service.  He also worked in furniture construction.  Terry enjoyed county cooking, especially country ham, chicken and dumplings, and black coffee.  He was a member of Winston-Salem First Pentecostal Holiness Church.  In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his siblings, Mae Hines and James Lawrence.  He is survived by his wife, Gail Childers Lawrence; children, Crystal Jones (Al), Erika Lewis, Wendy Lawrence, Terry T. Lawrence, Jr. (Veronica), and Monta T. Lawrence.  Terry is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Winston-Salem First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tim Wolfe officiating.  Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir, NC at 2:00 pm.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Boys Town, www.boystown.org.
