Terry Allen Hartness

KERNERSVILLE - Terry Allen Hartness, 65, passed away peacefully at his home, Sunday, April 6, 2014. Terry was born on February 1, 1949 in Iredell County to the late Paul Hartness and Faye Daniels Hartness. Terry was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from RJ Reynolds. He loved his church family at Triad Baptist Church and enjoyed golfing and visiting the beach. Terry was a wonderful man of strong character and perseverance, with a great sense of humor. He faced adversity and the challenges of his health with great bravery, courage and pride. Terry was a loving husband, father and friend to all he met. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife and best friend of 42 years, Cecelia Hitchcock Hartness, of the home; one son, Mark Hartness (Shelina) of TX; one daughter, Becky Hartness; his mother, Faye Hartness; two brothers, Larry Wayne Hartness (Shelia) and Rickey Hartness (Donna); and many extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Triad Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service at the church. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
