KERNERSVILLE-Terry Eugene Ford, Sr. 63, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, June 29, 2009 after an 11 year battle with cancer. He was born September 26, 1945 in Forsyth Co. to the late John Henry and Nona Hepler Ford. Terry was a member of First Christian Church in Kernersville and retired from the Forsyth County Sheriffs Department after 30 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Carter Ford of the home; one daughter, Penny F. Prater and husband Keith; one son, Terry E. Ford, Jr. (T.J.) and wife Lori all of Kernersville; four sisters, Phyllis Bailey of Midway, Jewell Laxton and husband Ronnie of Walkertown, Hilda Youmans and husband Pete of Hazard, KY, and Penny Shepherd of Kernersville; one brother, Lenny Ford and wife Mitzi of Germanton; two grandchildren, Dylan and Holly Prater; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at First Christian Church in Kernersville with Dr. Pete Knuckle, Pastor Dean Tsiolkas, officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the church. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 1130 North Main St., Kernersville, NC 27284 or Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, Dr. Nick Chrysson, Dr. Stiebert and staff at Forsyth Hematology and Oncology, the nurses at the chemo lab, and radiology, and the 9th floor nursing staff at Forsyth Medical Center who took such great care of Terry. Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Ford family.
