Terry Byrd

Mr. Terry Alvin Byrd, 73, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Moses Cone Hospital. He was born on June 11, 1949, in Guilford County to Alvin and Mary Byrd. Terry retired from Gilbarco with 30 years of service. He also had a successful yard business at Holden Beach. Terry was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church where he was a member of the Arbor Sunday School Class. He loved to fish and enjoyed classic cars, especially his ’66 Chevelle. Terry was an entertaining person. He loved people and people loved him. He was very devoted to his family as well as to the Lord. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Byrd and his son-in-law, Rithi Ros.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Mabe Byrd; two daughters, Candy Roberts of Southport, NC and Sandy Ros of Randleman, NC; one stepson, Kenny Mabe, of Supply, NC; six grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew Ring, Hailey Mabe, and Jaden, Naiya, Noella Ros; one great grandson, Ashton Cheatham; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service for Terry will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Steve Roberson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Gur Cemetery in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 12:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
