Winston-Salem – Mrs. Teresa Dalarna Penfield Crotts, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Heath Medical Center. She was born on September 7, 1949 in Guilford County to William Sherwood and Juanita Gillespie Penfield. Teresa was a 1967 graduate of Parkland High School and was also an honor graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. She was employed for 25 years at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine as a Project Manager for cancer research. Teresa previously was a teacher for four years in the Winston Salem Forsyth County School system. She was a dedicated Christian and was an active member of Friendly Avenue Church of Christ in Greensboro. Teresa was faithful to all of her responsibilities to the very end. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her father, Teresa was preceded in death by her daughter, Dana Suzanne Crotts. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim Crotts; her mother, Juanita Gillespie Doub; two sisters, Linda Gail Penfield Transou (husband, Frank) and Jennifer Penfield Forcum (husband, Kenny); five nieces and nephews, Scott Shoaf (wife, Kimberly), Stacey Smith (husband, Ben), Sherrie Shoaf, Guy Phillips, and Zak Phillips; five great nieces, Madison Williams, Poppy Williams, Zoe Horton, Emma Shoaf, and Ellie Shoaf; and numerous other special family members and friends.
A memorial service for Teresa will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Elder Jim Akers and Elder John Harris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
