Teddy Allen Weavil

Teddy Allen Weavil of Belews Creek, NC passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on April 18, 2025, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Teddy was born in Davidson County on July 10, 1947, and was the seventh child of the late George Allen and Clara Byerly Weavil.

Teddy graduated from Ledford High School in 1965 and proudly served in the United States Air Force in both Spain and Greece from 1966-1969, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He and Mary Jo were married on November 22,1970 and enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Teddy was successfully employed with Carolane Propane Gas Company for thirty-five years. Following his retirement from Carolane, he volunteered at both the Winston-Salem and Kernersville Novant Medical Centers.

Teddy was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and since 1970, had been a member of Morris Chapel UMC where he served dutifully in many capacities, including the Cemetery Committee, Board of Trustees and as the Head Usher. He and Mary Jo were ardent supporters of the Morris Chapel Food Pantry where they faithfully volunteered each month.

Teddy was a devoted supporter and fan of all his granddaughters’ athletic endeavors, whether it be fast-pitch softball, soccer or volleyball. He truly enjoyed bass fishing with his sons on Belews Lake and at his mother’s farm pond; and for many years Teddy looked forward every summer to his family’s annual beach/saltwater fishing trip. Throughout his entire life Teddy held a special affection for all dogs, most recently his beloved dachshund, Maggie.

Teddy Allen Weavil was a very special and devoted father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend who loved his family unconditionally and without limit. A tremendous and overwhelming void is left by his death, but we find comfort in knowing that Jesus lived within his heart and that his physical suffering is no more. Teddy left a lasting legacy for all those who knew and loved him; and were inspired by his shining examples of courage, humility, selflessness and Christian service.

Teddy is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Neal Weavil; his sons, Tim Weavil and his wife, Sonya and Todd Weavil and his wife, Becky. Granddaughters left to forever cherish Teddy’s memory are Peyton Elizabeth Weavil, Georgia Grace Weavil, Hayden Grae Hopkins and Jordan Paige Jones. Teddy is also survived by his sisters, Mary Alice Clodfelter, Betty Power and Ruth Fine; and his sister-in-law, Doris Neal Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen Hilton, brothers, Frank Weavil and Clyde (Ottie) Weavil, and brother-in-law, Bobby Wilson. Teddy also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, and close friends and extended family who will miss him greatly.
