Mr. Ted William VanHoy passed away at his home Sunday, May 27, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Ted was born in Forsyth County, July 18, 1956 to James Roger and Madeline Fulp VanHoy. Ted owned his own business VanHoy Painting and Decorating. He restored and worked on many of our Historic and beautiful homes and businesses in the Winston-Salem area. Ted, Mary and their children live in the Rural Hall Community and have enjoyed the small town atmosphere and kindness of their neighbors and friends for the last twenty years. Ted and Mary enjoyed a part of their life together at their second home in Southport. Ted loved a great adventure with his son's Ryan and Michael. They enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, motorcycles and most of all boating. Ted was preceded in death by his father, his beloved son, Michael Ted VanHoy, loving sister, Alice Cook and best friend's Calvin Westmoreland and Dustin Hamilton. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary Elizabeth VanHoy . His son, Ryan Christopher VanHoy, A daughter, Keely Laken Cook and the apple of his eye granddaughter, Haley Renee Hixon. A daughter-in-law Tonya VanHoy and son Nolan. His loving mother, Madeline VanHoy. A brother, Steve Fletcher and wife Ina. A devoted sister Judy VanHoy Sparks and husband Jeff and a brother-in-law, James Ballard. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall. The VanHoy family will receive family and friends at the home following the service. In lieu of flowers Ted would have requested that donations be given to those in need.
