Tate Folstad

Mrs. Tate Day Folstad, 50, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away on Sunday, February 13th, at Brunswick Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 14th, 1971 in Winston-Salem to the late Stan and Lenora (Sissy) Poplin Day. Tate is survived by her husband, Steve Folstad; one son, J.T. Folstad; two daughters, Kenzie and Madi Folstad; one brother, Todd Day (Melissa Chadwick); and three nephews, Taylor Day (Auburn Mercer), Jason Folstad (Kristina Monsen), and Alec Folstad. Tate was a loving mother, sister and friend. She enjoyed living life beside the pool, beach or on the lake surrounded by family, friends and her dog Blue. Tate was a graduate of Wake Forest University and Bowman Gray School of Medicine.  She was an avid Deacon fan and loved Wake Forest University.  Tate was passionate about helping and caring for people, whether in her previous role as a Physician Assistant, or helping her friends and family. Tate had a magnetic personality and lit up every room she walked into with her smile and bright eyes. She always kept in touch with people like her childhood friends, sorority sisters, and girlfriends. Go be with Papaw and Sissy Mama, we’ll see you again one day, you will be missed and loved forever. Funeral services for Tate will be held at 12 pm on Thursday, February 17th, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Reverend Marilyn L. Weiler officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1130 Jonestown Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank every doctor, nurse, and caregiver at Brunswick Medical Center for the excellent care given to Tate in her final days. We also would like to thank Tate’s sorority sisters for creating “The Tate Day Memorial Sunshine Fund” to provide help to other sisters and their families in need. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to go to Pine Grove Methodist Church, 1130 Jonestown Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
