Tara Jones

KERNERSVILLE - Tara Elizabeth Jones, 31, passed away peacefully February 28, 2022 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, surrounded by her family and friends, just as she would have wanted it. Tara was born February 12, 1991, in Winston-Salem. She attended East Forsyth High School and took additional classes at both Forsyth Tech and Cape Fear Community College. She was a talented artist and skilled tattooist who had a zest for life and friendships. Tara travelled and worked as a tattoo artist around the country including  Wilmington, Boise, Dallas and Las Vegas and made lasting friendships and memories along the way. If you knew Tara, chances are you were a best friend and someone Tara would do anything for. Tara also loved animals, she rescued and raised several animals that became wonderful pets. She was fearless and passionate but most of all she loved big and wasn’t afraid to tell you.

Tara was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, David Swaim; her paternal grandfather, Willis Jones; and her great grandparents, Glenn Swaim, Sr. “Gramps” and Dorothy Swaim.

Tara is survived by her 17 month old son, Maverick David Jones; her mother, Rina Swaim Gaddy, step-father Simeon McRae Gaddy; her father Mack Davis Jones, step-mother, Sherri Blackburn Jones; her sisters, Samantha Gaddy-Hall and Sara Francis Gaddy; step-sisters, Kendra Mickey, and Leah Mickey. She is also survived by her grandmothers, Janie Posey Swaim, known as “Mamaw” and Margaret Jones.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Purdy officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the committal.
