Mrs. Sylvia Dunlap Styers, 94, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Sylvia was born in Forsyth County on July 4, 1923, to the late William W. Dunlap and Gedie Smith Dunlap. She was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. Sylvia retired from Hanes Hosiery as well as Hanes Mall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Abram Allen Styers; one brother, Glenn Dunlap; and two sisters, Beulah Shoemaker and Mona Bunting. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Jean Kimmer (Fred) of Winston-Salem; two grandsons, Garland Kimmer (Melissa) of East Taunton, Massachusetts and Christopher Kimmer (Cindy) of Louisville, Kentucky; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Rowan, Alexandra, and Sophia; two sisters, JoAnne Kreeger of Kernersville and Inez Warren of Haines City, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Forsyth Memorial Park with Dr. Gina M. Brock officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family of Mrs. Styers.
