Sylvia Smith Saylor

KERNERSVILLE--Mrs. Sylvia Smith Saylor, 74 of Atlantic Beach, formerly a long time resident of Kernersville, passed away October 17, 2008. She was born in Spencer, NC to the late Elva and Adrian Smith. She graduated with honors from Boyden High School in 1951, and from business college in Salisbury. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend to many others. Her greatest joy and achievement in life was spending time with family and making a difference in the various communities she lived in. While in Kernersville, she was a staff member of First Baptist Church and served as paralegal for Wolfe and Associates. In her retirement, she was very active in ABWA (American Business Women's Association). She was twice selected Woman of the Year, served as a Guardian ad Litem, and was an active Deacon at First Baptist Church, Morehead City. She was preceded in death by her husband G. Raymond Saylor and her son, Kenneth. Survivors include daughters; Kathi Dubel (Jack), Greensboro, Kim Bresnahan, Chesapeake, VA; three step-sons; Glenn Saylor(Wanda), Roanoke Rapids, Scott Saylor (Fran), Raleigh, Brian Saylor (Angie), Mooresville; 12 grandchildren: Jessica, Joseph, Julianne Dubel; Christopher and Patrick Bresnahan; Will, Shannon, Adam, Hartman and Josh Saylor; Zachary and Sarah Weir. A service celebrating her life will be held Friday, October 24th at First Baptist Church, Kernersville. The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM . Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. Memorial contributions may be made to an ABWA educational scholarship in Memory of Sylvia S. Saylor, SDCC-ABWA P.O. Box 2113, Morehead City, NC 28557.
