Sylvia Luther Jarrell

WINSTON-SALEM- Mrs. Sylvia Luther Jarrell, 76, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Jarrell was born on August 23, 1936 in Montgomery County, NC to the late Charles and Bannie Luther. Sylvia retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. She was of the Quaker Faith and volunteered at the Derrick L. Davis Forsyth Regional Cancer Center. Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she was ""the glue that held the family together."" Preceding Mrs. Jarrell in death along with her parents is her husband, Herbert Clark Jarrrell. Surviving Mrs. Jarrell are four daughters, Gwen Scott of Winston-Salem, Wendy Shockley of Winston-Salem, Cindy Polley (Donald) of Pilot Mountain, NC, and Renee RiCharde of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Michelle Lovelace (Michael) of Pfafftown, NC, Jamie Flaherty (David) of Walkertown, NC, Crystal Kaus (Adam) of Wilmington, NC, Jennifer Bliss of Winston-Salem, and Nicholas RiCharde of Winston-Salem; three great-grandchildren, Alex Flaherty, Rachael Bliss, and Ethan Kaus; one sister, Shirley Bartlett (Barron) of Birmingham, AL; a special friend, Bill Shore of Winston-Salem and a loyal caregiver, Sarah Burns of Kernersville, NC. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Trinity Friends Meeting in Lewisville, NC with Dr. Robin G. Dixon, Sr. and Rev. Jake Penley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
