Sylvia York Eddinger

Mrs. Sylvia York Eddinger, 86, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, at Brookdale Peachtree Memory Care in Statesville, NC. 

Mrs. Eddinger was born on September 4, 1937 to the late Clyde McCoy York and Tabitha Trivette York in Iredell County, NC. She was a loving wife, mother, and granny to all that knew her. She enjoyed time with her family and friends, working in her flower gardens, and watching NASCAR racing and Duke basketball. Sylvia had a servant’s heart; she would do anything for anyone at any time.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Renea Donley; three grandsons, Jerame (Jenna) Donley, Cory (Kayla) Donley, and Johnathan Eddinger; three great-grandsons, Colin, Eli, and Ryder Donley; a sister, Lillian Rash; former son-in-law, Craig Donley; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Eddinger was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Lee Eddinger; a son, Chris Eddinger; five sisters, Cleo, Nettie, Doris, Mae, and Janie; and three brothers, Lonnie, David, and Donnie Ray. 

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11:00am at Griffith Baptist Church, with Rev. Tony Brown officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1308 Davie Ave., Statesville, NC 28677; Griffith Baptist Church, 1987 Old Salisbury Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27127; or an Alzheimer’s Association of your choosing. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brookdale Peachtree Memory Care and Gentiva Hospice for all the love and care shown to Sylvia and her family.
