Sylvia Smith Apple

KERNERSVILLE- Sylvia Dean Smith Apple, 76, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born January 11, 1938 in Forsyth Co. to the late Athel and Cassie Welch Smith.

Sylvia graduated Valedictorian of her senior class at Kernersville High School. She also excelled in basketball, and in her senior year she was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Forsyth County Tournament. After high school she began her career in banking with the Bank of Kernersville; and retired after 35 years of service with Wachovia Bank. Sylvia was an avid crafter and loved tatting. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, James B. Apple; daughter, Sharon Wilmoth and husband, Kent of High Point; sister, Sandra Beeson and husband, Frank; two very special people in her life were her sister-in-law, Virginia Apple (Bill) and her cousin, Virginia McNamara (Archie); and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
