Sylvia Harris Anderson

Kernersville - Mrs. Sylvia Harris Anderson, age 98, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Bradford Village. She was born February 22, 1918 in Wyoming to the late Theodore and Bessie Williams Harris. Sylvia was a true pioneer having lived in a log cabin in Canada at age 4 through 6 while her father worked on the railroad. Her family left to relocate to Oklahoma, traveling in a horse drawn covered wagon. After a few years they then again relocated to Arlington, Arizona where she grew up and eventually married their next door neighbor's son, Perry. Most of her life was lived in California. She was gregarious and fun-loving and will be missed by many. She loved the Lord and lived a full life. Sylvia was active member of Gospel Light Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Perry Gordon Anderson and a sister Goldie Irene Harris.

Surviving is a daughter, Patsy Joyce Moerman and husband, Eric, of Winston-Salem; two grandsons, Michael Moerman and wife, Erika, of Charlotte and Chris Moerman and wife, Paige, of Winston-Salem; five great grandchildren, Grant, Molly, Lilly, Lauren and Lindsey.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday August 7, 2016 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown Guthrie Rd, Winston-Salem NC 27101.
