Sybilla 'Billie' Crawford

Sybilla ""Billie"" Mae Conrad Crawford, 88, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 after several months of declining health. She was a Christmas baby, born on December 25, 1922, which was also the date of her parents' anniversary. Billie was the youngest daughter of Vernon and Flossie Conrad of Lewisville. Billie grew up in the Lewisville community and met her husband, Ben, while working in Winston-Salem. They were married January 3, 1947 and lived a wonderful life together in Lewisville, Charlotte, and Louisville, Kentucky, retiring back to Lewisville in 1989. Billie was a devoted wife and mother, an avid reader, a gracious hostess, and a wonderful cook. She loved music, and was a member of the Sweet Adelines in Charlotte and Louisville, also participating in a quartet. Billie played with the Tanglewood Ladies' Golf Association for many years, enjoyed bridge, and was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Ben; daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Cassel, Cyndi (David) Caldwell, and Chrys Kub; six grandchildren, Stephen Cassel, Scott Cassel, Kendall Caldwell, Seth Caldwell, Kelsey Kub, and James Kub. Also surviving are several much loved nieces and nephews as well as her sisters-in-law, Ruth Conrad, Nell Conrad, Jo Collins, and brother-in-law, Charles Jordan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Elsie Conrad Doub, and her brothers Esta Conrad, Voyle Conrad, Clifton Conrad, and Gray Conrad. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26 at 11:00am at Lewisville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Keith Bingham presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth Miller Kinderton Chapel. Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com.
