Susie Simpson Smith

Mrs. Susie Haveland Simpson Smith, 93, passed away February 10, 2017 at Village Care of King. She was born December 1, 1923 in Surry County to the late Willie S. Simpson and Bessie L. Simpson. Susie graduated from Copeland High School, then went to Draughns Business College where she earned her degree in business. After college she worked for the US Civil Service Dept. with the VA and Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death her loving husband, James Carlton Smith Sr; one brother, Junior W. Simpson. She is survived by her son, James C. Smith Jr. (Florida) of Germanton; grandchildren, James C. Smith III (Best Friend, Ruthie) of Dallas Ga, Jennifer C. Davis (Shorty) of Jacksonville, NC, Rica M. Abbott (Fiancé, Brian) of the home, Germanton, NC; four great-grandchildren, several Nieces & Nephews; one brother, Bobby S. Simpson of Ft. Mill SC. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel Rural Hall with Pastor Keith Heitman officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Stokes and Forsyth counties for all the assistance, care, efforts and consideration given to mom and her immediate family over the past couple of years.
