Kernersville-Susie Mae Tucker Hauser, 95, passed away Monday, January 5, 2009 at Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community. She was born April 2, 1913 in Forsyth Co. to the late William Charlie and Asia Bodenhamer Tucker. Susie was a life long resident of the Union Cross community. She was a member of Union Cross Moravian Church, where she taught Sunday school for 45 years and served as President of the Provincial Women's Board of the Moravian Church. She retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd W. Hauser; four brothers, Ira, Clay, Chester, and York Tucker; three sisters, Clara Willard, Nera Williard, and Faith Flinchum; 14 nieces and nephews. Surviving are 20 nieces and nephews; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; and a very special friend Aaron Linville, who all were very dear to her. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Union Cross Moravian Church with the Rev. Don Griffin and Chaplain Linda Browne officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cross Moravian Church Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home Kernersville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Salemtowne Financial Assistance Fund, 1000 Salemtowne Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or Union Cross Moravian Church 4295 High Point Rd., Winston Salem, NC 27107. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Phillips Healthcare staff of Salemtowne, for the care that was given to Susie when she became disabled with Parkinson's.
