Sue Pettit

Mrs. Sue Ellen Dula Pettit, 79, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Buncombe County to the late Thomas Clyde Dula and Genell McDaris Dula on November 4, 1942. Sue ran a home day care for 25 years, and then went to work for The Industries for the Blind. Sue loved to sing and was in the choirs at Forsyth Park Baptist Church and later at Trinity United Methodist Church. She and her husband, Malcolm, loved to go on day trips with Yadkin Tours. Sue also looked forward to participating in the yearly summer camps for the blind that was sponsored by the Lions Club. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Malcolm Pettit. She is survived by a sister, Sybil Dula Moran (James); nieces, Elizabeth Brown (David), Rachel Schmidt (Don) and Hannah Pritchard; nephew, James Thomas Moran (Kristin); 16 grand nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Alex Navy. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, March 14, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Doug Miller officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior.
