Sudie Hanes Clayton, widow of Robert George “Bob” Clayton died peacefully April 28, 2021 at Homestead Hills. She was born to Robah E. Hanes and Effie Vanhoy Hanes in Winston-Salem, NC.
She was a graduate of Hanes High School class of 1943. Sudie retired with 30 years of service from the finance office of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools where she made many lifelong friends.
As a charter member of Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church, Sudie served in many areas of the church including several years as a financial secretary.
Sudie is survived by two daughters, Martha Clayton Logemann (Ernest) and Susan Clayton Moorefield (Kelly). She is also survived by two granddaughters, Katherine Clayton Logemann (Christopher Ogletree) and Anna Louise Logemann, two step-grandsons, Cassidy and Chase Moorefield, and great granddaughter, Margaret Olivia Ogletree. Other survivors include nieces and nephews in North Carolina, Florida, New York, South Carolina, and Virginia. She was predeceased by her sisters Margaret Sparks (Virgil), Mary Sparrow (Robert), Nancy "Jacque" Joyce (Glenn) and a brother David Hanes (Doris) as well as 3 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law.
The family wishes to thank all of her longtime friends and Homestead Hills friends for the love they provided for many years. We are especially grateful of the care given to her by the Homestead Hills team in independent, assisted and skilled care. Homestead Hills was a loving, caring home for 19 years. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Sudie was always a lady and will be missed.
