KERNERSVILLE-Steven Keith Tiller, 52, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born January 19, 1957 in Spokane, Washington to Thomas Cecil and Elsie McKitrick Tiller. Steven's passion was collecting and restoring antique radios. He was a member of The Mid-Atlantic Radio Club, the Antique Wireless Association and the Carolina Chapter of the Antique Wireless Association. He also loved all sports, vintage cars, fishing, and playing his guitar. Steve attended Blue Ridge Community College, and he had worked for 23 years for Tyco International in research and development, engineering and management. Steve will always be remembered for his kind spirit, his devotion to his family and his unending courage throughout his 5 ½ year battle with cancer. He will also be remembered for his dedication to the documentation and preservation of antique electronic equipment. In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife of twenty seven years, Amber Mathias Tiller; and two sons, Sean and Nathan Tiller all of the home; one brother, Jeff Tiller of Longview, Texas; and one sister, Patricia Tiller of West Palm Beach, Florida. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The family wishes to thank, Dr. Don Gabriel and the transplant team at the University of North Carolina, Dr. Richard Brodkin and the 9th floor staff at Forsyth Medical Center, Dr. Bayard Powell and the leukemia team at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, and the many nurses who provided care for Steve. We would also like to thank the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their care and compassion.
