Steven Richard Poteet

Heaven was rejoicing on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 when Mr. Steven Richard Poteet, 63, of Advance, was received by his daddy and his Heavenly Father. He was born July 25, 1944 in Burke County to Josephine Poteet and the late Monion Poteet. Although his life was restricted by Cerebral Palsy, he gave and received much joy and love. He is survived by his mother Josephine and sister, Gay both of the home; his sister Kay and husband Floyd McAtee of King; his sister Judy Merritt of Raleigh and a nephew Matthew Merritt and wife Audrey of Dallas, TX. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Dr. Crystal M. Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Nature Conservancy, Attn: Treasury, 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203. The family would like to give many thanks to Davie Home Health, the ICU staff at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and also to Dr. Wray and Sheryl Thorpe.
