Mr. Steven ""Steve"" Lee Maynor, 59 of Winston-Salem passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2016 at his home. He was born December 28, 1956 in Logan, West Virginia and was a 1975 graduate of Gauley Bridge High School in Gauley Bridge, WV. Steve was currently employed at House of Plants in Winston-Salem and was co-owner/designer of the former Floral Visions Design Studio and subsequently was the Floral Merchandiser at Costco. Steve was blessed with many artistic talents and spent his adult life working in the floral design industry. Because of his love of plants and flowers and distinct connection with nature, he was well known for his beautiful and unique floral creations. Steve also enjoyed expressing his artistic talents through his photography, love of cooking, and his whimsical paper mache creations.
He is survived by his life partner of 36 years, Wayne Hurst and their beloved pets Gilligan and Coretta; his parents, Vernon and Avril Cottrill Maynor; his sisters, Alicia Maynor Griffin and Mary Maynor Whiteley. He is also survived by his nephew, Todd Lockman and nieces, Kara Lockman Bennett and Megan Whiteley Alderman along with many great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Steve's life will be held at a later date in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
