Sterling Michael 'Mike' Merrill

KERNERSVILLE - Sterling Michael 'Mike' Merrill, 57, went home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2012. He was born on July 20, 1954 in Luzerne County, PA to the late Sterling D. and Catherine Merrill. He was a loving husband and dad and in return, loved by so many. He was a man whose heart and soul was filled with so much joy, love and laughter. Mike was the type of man whose carefree personality allowed him to never meet a stranger. As a friend to all, he displayed actions that were always caring, loving and giving. Through his great knowledge and passion of God's word he provided the upmost encouragement to everyone. Mike will be missed deeply by so many of his family, friends and co-workers. He was a graduate from Smith High School in 1973 and attended GTCC. He served in the US Air Force for 4 years. He was employed by the US Postal Service for the last 32 years. Mike is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy S. Merrill; his daughters, Heidi Merrill of Greensboro and Haleigh Merrill of High Point; his sister, Dorothy Phillips of Luzerne, PA; and his brother, Art Merrill of Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 6- 8:00 pm Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. A private service will be held at a later date.
