Mr. Stephen Luke Thomas, 63, of Clemmons passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 11, 1947 in Forsyth County to James Luke and Nora Rothrock Thomas. He was retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after 27 years of service. Mr. Thomas then went to work with Shamel Furniture Company where he was a sales manager until his retirement in 2003. He and his wife then established their own silk floral design business. Stephen graduated from James A. Gray High School in 1965. As a young man, Stephen was a very accomplished athlete, especially in basketball and golf. He was a passionate Wake Forest University sports fan and loved music. Stephen was a published author, writing Love In A Butterscotch Pie, which was a tribute to the life of his mother and the entire Rothrock and Thomas families. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Daniel Thomas Stevens. Surviving are his wife, Tatyana Thomas; 3 daughters, Stephanie Stevens (Thomas), Griffin Morrisey (Steve), and Brynn Swayngim (Brad); 2 grandchildren, Evan Stevens and Addison Morrisey; 2 sisters, Fay Davis (Sonny) and Shirley Stewart; and a brother, Noal Thomas (Patsy). A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 14th at 6:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Bill James officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Forsyth Humane Society, 61 Miller Street, W-S, N.C. 27104.
