Stephen Victor Marler

Mr. Stephen Victor Marler, 56, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Marler was born in Forsyth County to James Everett Marler and Lorena Needham (Marler) Rierson. He was a member of Spirit & Truth Worship Center of Winston-Salem where he was the praise and worship leader for many years. Steve was a commercial and residential contractor and was involved in the construction of numerous buildings including churches. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and especially enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was a generous, giving, honest, God loving man and was always there to help in the time of need. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Marler was preceded in death by his father and step-father, J.C. Rierson. Steve is survived by his wife, Polly Widener Marler of the home; two daughters, Lori Garris (Brad) of Greensboro, NC and Crystal Smith (Jesse) of Lexington, NC; five grandchildren, Alyssa Edison, Tyler Edison, Landry Garris, Mackenzie Smith, and Harmony Smith; his mother, Lorena Needham Rierson; and two brothers, Byron Marler (Denise) of Lexington, NC and David Marler of Mooresville, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Spirit & Truth Worship Center with Pastor Travis Moses and Bishop Bob Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
