Stephen 'Steve' Preston Lewis

Stephen ""Steve"" Preston Lewis, 69, of Kernersville, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born March 7, 1944 in Newport News, VA to the late Doris and Otis Lewis. Mr. Lewis graduated from Gray High School in 1962. He was a member of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, and enjoyed volunteering at Sunnyside Ministries. He retired from Duron Paints in Clemmons. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Susan Diane Lewis, and an infant son. Surviving is his wife of 29 years, Donna Masencup Lewis and ""their girls,"" Cookie and Gigi of the home; one brother, Gary Lewis (Betty) of Kernersville; one son, Jeff Lewis (Kim) of Summerfield; two daughters, Kim Hawley(Eddie), Angie Tippett (John), all of Kernersville; eleven grandchildren whom he loved and cherished, Preston, Sarah, Adam, Ben Lewis, Garrett, Griffin, Lindsay Hawley, Gavin, Zachary, Sydney, Macey Tippett; sisters-in-law, Janet Carithers (Steve) of Rural Hall, Ginger McLean of Orlando, FL; one brother-in-law, Eddie Masencup (Jan) of Winston-Salem; nieces and nephews, Alison Flippen, Emily and Cole Fisher, Allison Carithers, Will McLean and Morgan Masencup; special friends, Mike and Terry Loggins, who stood by his side to the end. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27 at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church with the Rev. John D. Rights and Rev. Jack Nance officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
