Stella Paralee Davis, better known as “Polly”, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the age of 96. Polly was born on April 23, 1925, to the late Saphrine Jenkins Sisk and Winfred Lee Sisk of Winston-Salem. Polly spent her early years as a sketch artist, sketching the human body and fashion garments. She used oils, charcoal, pen and ink, and modeling clay in her work. After the war, she began working for the Veterans Administration and worked there until she retired in 1985. It was at the Veterans Administration that she met the love of her life, Jake Davis, deceased. They were married on August 2, 1947, and spent the next 73 years loving each other. On March 1, 1985, Polly and Jake retired on the same day and over the next four years traveled to every state in the continental United States, Mexico and Canada. Polly was a devoted and loyal member of Christ Moravian Church. Polly was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She is survived by a son, Kenneth Clifton Davis of Lewisville, North Carolina; grandchildren Ashley Davis Hopkins (Steve) of Wilmington, North Carolina, Chad Jason Davis of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Anna Samira Davis of Lewisville, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Chad Austin Davis, Ashlyn Sidney Harman, Christina Paige Hopkins, Stephanie Lynn Hopkins, and Stephen Hopkins, Jr., all of Wilmington, North Carolina. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christ Moravian Church 919 W. Academy St. Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27101.
