Mrs. Stella Mae Frye Vogler, 82, of Advance, died Sunday, October 4, 2009 after a courageous fight with cancer. Mrs. Vogler was born in Advance on July 23, 1927 to the late Charlie Gilbert and Fannie Smith Frye. She was a member of Advance United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 40 years. Mrs. Vogler was a retired nurse and homemaker. She was preceded in death her husband, whom she married in 1951, Naylor Vogler; a sister Lucille Frye Cope, and a brother James Harding Frye. Mrs. Vogler is survived by two daughters, Susan Vogler Kimball and husband Joel of Clemmons, and Rebecca Mae Vogler of Advance; two grandchildren, Christopher Kimball and wife Melissa, and Emily Rebecca Kimball, all of Winston-Salem; several nieces and nephews, a special friend Donna Johnston; and her beloved cat, Bertha. A funeral service will be conducted 12:00 Noon Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Advance United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cheryl A. Skinner, the Rev. Jimmy Myers, and the Rev. Meghan McSwain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Advance United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2021 Advance, NC 27006 or to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Mrs. Vogler and her family would like to thank Hospice for all of their support and guidance through her illness.
