Stanley "Stan" Ray Grandy

Stanley "Stan" Ray Grandy was released from his health challenges on May 18, 2023. A rare mitochondrial disease forced Stan to give up many things he enjoyed and limited his participation in life events. He mounted a strong fight and worked hard to maintain mobility as long as possible. While Stan's actions were restricted, his heart was not. He loved his family, connected by blood or circumstances, deeply and fully.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Richard Grandy Sr and Joy Bassett Grandy, and his brother "Dick" Fred Richard Grandy Jr.

He is survived by his wife Carol Stephens Grandy; sister Wendy Grandy Tornow, her husband Bill Tornow; five nieces; four nephews; and two great-nephews.

A graveside service for Stan will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Union Cross Moravian Church Graveyard (4295 High Point Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107) with Rev. Adam Goodrich officiating. Family will greet guests following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Union Cross Fire Department (4401 High Point Road, Kernersville, NC 27284) who lifted Stan up so many times or Trellis Supportive Care (101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC, 27103) who eased his path to freedom from pain and restrictions. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
