Stanley 'Buster' Smith

Mr. Stanley Leon ""Buster"" Smith, 77, of Advance passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born February 28, 1935 in Forsyth County to George Clingman and Ima Stanley Smith. Mr. Smith worked for 30 years as a brick mason and went on to retire after 20 years as Chief Jailer with the Davie County Sheriff's Office. He was a member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Sue Ellis Smith. Surviving are four children, George Markland Smith, Michael Ray Smith, Donna Smith McCraw and Dianna Smith Stephens and husband, John; six grandchildren, Cody Stephens and wife Brandi, Courtney Stephens Ridenhour and husband Adam, Michelle Smith, Johnny Smith, Marlee Smith and Brooke McCraw; a great granddaughter, Rhaelyn Leona Stephens; a brother, Jack Smith and wife Beth and four sisters, Mittie Woosley, Barbara Dorsett and husband Carlos, Gaynell Pope and Esther Wooten. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Craddock officiating. Burial will follow at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
