Mr. Sollie ""Sam"" Eugene Kiger, age 83 of Rural Hall passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Sam was born in Forsyth County May 27, 1927 to the late Alvin James and late Nannie Estelle Ingram Kiger. He was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II and of the Baptist faith. Sam will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his playing of jokes on others. He was a very caring and loving man and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents Sam was preceded in death by two son's Jerry and Jimmy Kiger, one grandson Larry Kiger, Jr. and two brothers. Surviving is his wife of 62 years of marriage, Mary Kiger of the home. Two daughters: Shirley Kiger of the home and Diane (Ronnie) Blankenship of West Virginia. Two son's: Larry Kiger of Rural Hall and Ronald Kiger of East Bend. Six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A sister: Linda Hutchens of Winston-Salem and a brother: Bobby Kiger of Winston-Salem. Several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Rural Hall Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Military Honors. There will be no formal visitation.
