Shirley Dean Zimmerman

Shirley Dean Zimmerman, 77, was called home to be with The Lord on November 11, 2023, in Winston-Salem, NC. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Sharon Estes, Oren Zimmerman Jr., Kathy Davis, Weeta Zimmerman, William Zimmerman and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister, Donreath Zimmerman, Oren Zimmerman Sr. and Marie Zimmerman.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. T.W. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Shirley was born in Winston-Salem on November 28th, 1945. She graduated from The Class of 1966 at Parkland High School. Shirley was a loyal employee at The Winston Plaza Hotel for many years until her retirement. Shirley loved family dogs, enjoyed watching Nascar races, cooking and she was known to make some of the most delicious cakes and treats. Shirley had a huge heart, and she showered her love amongst her beloved nieces and nephews from the older generations to the newest members of our family. We will all miss her very much.

On behalf of the family, we would like to say a special thank you to Shirley’s nephew, Payton Zimmerman who held Shirley’s hand through some very tough times. Shirley will live on in our hearts and minds as she watches down upon us from heaven.
