Shirley Angell York

Mrs. Shirley Angell York, 73, of Tobaccoville, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 29, 1938 in Forsyth County to Rufe ""Bill"" and Sally Hazel Wall Angell. Mrs. York was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed camping and travelling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leo York, Sr. Surviving are her children, Robert L. York, Jr. (Susan) of Salisbury, Pamela York (Dennis Maggard) of Palo Alto, CA, and David Wayne York (Sheila) of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Nathaniel, Lindsay, Julian, Amy and Laura; three brothers, Teddy Angell (Shirley) and Gene Angell (Linda), all of East Bend and Albert Dean ""Abbie"" Angell (Margaret) and one sister, Kay Owen (Gary) all of Pfafftown; and her special dog, Friskie. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Minister Lawrence Warden officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
