Shirley Proctor

Mrs. Shirley Branch Proctor, 70, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 2, 2018.

Shirley was born May 7, 1947 in West Virginia. She worked in banking for most of her life, retiring after 44 years of service, lastly with Suntrust Bank. She was a member of Griffith Baptist Church and enjoyed visiting with her church family. Most of all, Shirley was deeply devoted to her family. Known as "Momma Branch" at Bowman Gray Stadium, she was always in the stands to support her sons and the many friends she made there. She loved spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren and taking trips with her family to the beach. Shirley will be missed by all the people whose lives she touched over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coland Lee Branch, mother, Mary Beverly, grandmother, Alice McHone, and brother, Johnny McHone.

Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her husband, James "Benny" Proctor; children, Sherry Ann Branch, Kenneth Lee Branch and wife Heather, and Taylor Shane Branch and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Spencer, Carson, Connor, Addison, Cameron, and Dallas Branch; and siblings, Cookie Martin, Penny Lovill, Butchie Beverly, and Wade Beverly; stepdaughter, Amy Marks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2 pm at Griffith Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, March 5, 2018 from 6 - 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
