Shirley Poplin

Shirley Mae Nance Poplin, 87, passed away peacefully Friday, March 31, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 16, 1936, to the late Quiller F. Nance and Topsy Mae Nance. Shirley grew up and lived in Rural Hall, NC. Shirley retired from Western Electric after 32 years. After retirement she enjoyed her home, yard work, planting trees, shrubs, and flowers. She also loved shopping for antiques. Shirley was a mall walker for many years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Betty Lou Nance Moore. She is survived by her son, Christopher Southern; daughter, Terri S. Carroll (Jay); granddaughter, Candice Hauser (Tim); and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Waylon Hauser who she loved and adored. We all loved and adored her, and she will be missed. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the good people at Trellis Supportive Care. No formal services will be held at this time.
