Shirley Naomi Hollis Crews

Shirley Naomi Hollis Crews, 90, of Davie County, went home to her Lord and Savior on October 29, 2024. She was the daughter of the late George Henry Hollis and Naomi Wotring Hollis. Shirley graduated from UNC in 1956 and taught for many years. Primarily, she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was grounded in her faith and that was reflected in the genuine love and care that she shared with everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Robert Hollis (Bob); and a step son-in-law, James Pikula. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 37 years, Charles Odell (Dale) Crews; two daughters, Sharon Hoglen and April Anderson; a son, David Walter (Nancy); two stepsons, Terry Crews and Tracy Crews (Amy); a step-daughter, Tami Pikula; ten grandchildren, Taylor (Adam), Joseph (Jordan), Jordan, Jacob, Haley, Kristopher, Holden, Samantha, Noah, and Ben; and seven great grandchildren. 

A service to remember the life of Shirley will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 2:00pm, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Dr. Worth Green officiating. The family will receive friends an one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. There will be a private family committal service to be held at Forsyth Memorial Park.
