Shirley Lineberry

Kernersville – Ms. Shirley Ann Simpson Lineberry, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on June 28, 1937, in Forsyth County to Clyde Taft and Huldah Hiatt Simpson. Shirley was very strong in her faith and was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After over twenty years as a stay-at-home mom, Shirley entered the work force and became a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed cooking and traveling and loved to spend time gardening, especially vegetables. Shirley loved her family deeply. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Simpson Smith and her daughter, Deneen Wilson.

Left to cherish her memory are four children, Benjamin “Benji” Lineberry (wife, Donna), Lori Yoder, Candace “Candy” Lineberry, and Jacob Lineberry (wife, Julie); thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren with one on the way; one brother, Clyde “Taft” Simpson Jr. (wife, Judy); and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service for Shirley will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Bishop David Lewis officiating. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
