Shirley Lanier

On Tuesday morning September 13, 2022, Shirley Anne Boyd Lanier stepped beyond the veil into the hands of God and the arms of her loving husband.

Mrs. Shirley was born in Pitt County on November 21, 1940 to the late Milan and Kathleen Boyd.

Mrs. Shirley was born to Pastors in the Church of God. Her brothers served faithfully in the ministry. She married a Pastor. Her children are all in the ministry along with many grandchildren and soon to be great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Church of God and faithfully attended Hope Community Church for the past 28 years.

In addition to her parents, two brothers and a sister, Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Paul Francis Lanier, Jr.; a daughter, Kathy Lanier Isaacs (Bill); and twin grandchildren, Paul IV and Debryn Hope.

Surviving are one brother, Reverend Kenneth R. Boyd, (Faye); her three children, Paul Francis Lanier, III (Debbie), Timothy Milan Lanier (Susie) and Constance Renee Lanier Toler (Tim); 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many precious nieces and nephews.

A Service of Celebration will be held at Hope Community Church on Thursday night, September 22, 2022 at 7:00 PM, with her family officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM – 6:45 PM at the church prior to the service.  A graveside service and burial will be held the following day, Friday, September 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, NC.
