Shirley Joyce

Shirley Ann Barrow Joyce, 81, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at her home. Shirley was born on September 23, 1936 in Forsyth County to the late Lee and Jessie Robbins Barrow. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her grandkids. Shirley graduated from Walkertown High School, was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and had been an employee of Young's Florist.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Robert W. Joyce; two sons, Michael W. Joyce (wife, Mae Lynn) and Ricky L. Joyce (wife, Karla); and four grandchildren, Brandon, Justyn, Austyn and Colton.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Shumate and Rev. Tim Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church.


The family extends a special thanks to Shirley's nurses, Wendy, Elizabeth, Barbara, Treva and Kym for their kindness and care.

Memorials may be made to Gospel Light Baptist Church - Bus Ministry, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
