Shirley Elizabeth Phelps Hutchings

Mrs. Shirley Elizabeth Phelps Hutchings, 58, died Monday, January 19, 2015.

Shirley was born November 22, 1956 in Forsyth County. She was a special person, always doing for others whether friend or stranger. She had so many special talents, such as making her own cards and her needlework hangs proudly in friends and family homes. Shirley was a member of the International Dachshund & Animal Rescue, where she made many friends. She was her mother's heartline, taking care of all her necessities. She will be sorely missed. She is now with her son, Michael Alan Ridge, who precedes her in death, as well as her grandparents, Alfred Thomas Cranfill and Clara Elizabeth Cranfill, uncle, Larry (Buddy) Thomas Cranfill, and stepfather, Elood C. King.

Shirley is survived by husband, David Keith Hutchings of Belews Creek; mother, Dorris Cranfill Comer and father, Herman Lee Phelps of Winston-Salem; half-sister, Peggy Crates and husband Jeff; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sylvia and Wayne Hutchings of Belews Creek; step-daughter, Samantha Hutchings; special friends, Sandy and Brandon Brown, Emilie Kackley, and Odell and Dorie Routh; and her best friend, her dachshund, Megan.

A celebration of Shirley's life will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11 am at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Bethany United Methodist Church, Franklinville, NC. The family will receive friends Friday, January 23, 2015 from 7 pm - 9 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
