Shirley Lawson Hester

BELEWS CREEK- Shirley Lawson Hester the youngest of five children departed this life peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. She was born November 12, 1935 in Forsyth Co., to the late Paul C. Lawson, Sr. and Ida L. Lawson. Having worked for Western Electric Co. in her early years; she retired from the city of Winston-Salem Inspections Division. Following retirement, she always enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her home, collecting antiques and flower gardening. Her garden was always beautiful, such a pleasure to see and an inspiration for her and others. She married her loving husband, Henry, and spent the remainder of her life at their home in Belews Creek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Jones Hester; sister, Edith Brann; brother, Paul Lawson, Jr. Born to this marriage were two sons, Eric Van and Gregory Jones Hester. She is survived by her sons, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Avery and Spencer Hester of Kernersville, her brothers Kenneth Lawson, Ralph Lawson (Della); brother-in-law, T.D. Brann; numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Goodwill Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Mullis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Goodwill Baptist Church, 3110 Piney Grove Road, Kernersville, NC 27284. All would say that heaven has gained an angel - a very special loving and giving person.
