Mrs. Shirley Jean Gilley Hayden, 82, passed away, September 12, 2022, at Brookdale Senior Living. Shirley was born January 19, 1940, in Forsyth County to the late James Howard Gilley and Annie Bell Kiger Gilley. She retired from RJ Reynolds after 30 years of service. After retirement she went to work for her two brothers at James Gilley Accounting. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member at Union Tabernacle Church and was known for donating to the American Red Cross. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Jesse Hayden; two sisters, Carolyn Brown and Nancy Cheek; and two brothers, Clarence Gilley and Jack Gilley. She is survived by her three children, Debra Waller (John), Wayne Hayden (Nancy), and Tony Hayden; five grandchildren, Nikki Waller, Morgan Hayden, Brooke Hayden (Adam Hamilton), Chloe Hayden, and Ainslee Hayden; a great-grandson, Remington Hamilton; brother, James H. Gilley, Jr. (Lisa); and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Union Tabernacle Church with Pastor Chris Motley officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Tabernacle Church.
