Shirley Fulk Davis born April 10, 1935 passed peacefully Thursday afternoon February 3, 2022 at Yadkin Nursing Center in Yadkinville NC where she had been a resident since April 2020. She survived Polio as a child. Shirley was an active member of Marvin Methodist Church and as an adult she attended Oak Summit Methodist Church where she served as MYF counselor for a couple years. Shirley was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School. Shirley’s most prominent and loved jobs of employment were working at Hunter Publishing Company in the Personnel Department and later finished her career at Young Phillips in the Personnel Department overseeing payroll and insurance benefits. Shirley had a love of people. Everyone that knew her always felt her love including “her boys”. These were the friends of her sons and were often at her house. “Her boys” Mickey -“Smedly”, Danny, Dean, Barry, Don and Kim have always loved her dearly and some called her their second Mom. Two other very special people in Shirley’s life were close friends J.B. Edwards and Mary Williams. Her favorite restaurant was K & W Cafeteria where she often enjoyed meeting family and friends for meals. Shirley also loved pewter, plants and gardening, particularly African Violets and Christmas cactus. Most importantly Shirley was a Christian and lived her life accordingly with faith. Her most famous quote to all of “Her boys” was “If you do anything your mother or I do not approve of, may you not have a good time.” Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Clyde Dalton Fulk and Buena Culler Fulk, son Joseph Hill Davis Jr., granddaughter Jessica Hill Davis, brother James Fulk and sister Colleen Fulk Ward.
