Shirley Huff Averette

Clemmons- Mrs. Shirley Huff Averette, 81, passed away April 11, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 24, 1931 in Person County, NC to the late George Polk Huff and Lucy Day Huff. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clifton G. Averette in 2011, and her half brothers, Oscar, Horace, Raymond, Flem, and Hugh. Mrs. Averette was an active member of Clemmons First Baptist Church and her Sunday school class, The Willing Workers. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with a servant's heart. Mrs. Averette is survived by her two sons, Mark Averette and wife Kim of Gibsonville, and Paul Averette and wife Sharon of Huntersville; a daughter, Rebecca Davis and husband Todd of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Lauren and Kaitlyn Averette, and Shelby and Caleb Davis; a sister, Dorothy ""Dot"" Huff Taylor and two brothers, Bradsher Huff and wife Shirley, and Ursel Huff and wife Wilma. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, April 15, 2013 at Clemmons First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert L. Phillips officiating. A graveside service will follow at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington at 4:00pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Clemmons First Baptist Church, PO Box 279, Clemmons, NC 27012.
