Shirlene Mable Wood

Mrs. Shirlene Mable Wood, 77, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 at her home after a brief illness. She was born July 19, 1935 in Henry County, VA to Ira Wendell and Mable Hamby Weaver who preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, Spurgeon Webster Wood, Jr.; two sons, David F. Weaver, Sr. (Debbie) and Hugh A Edwards III; a stepson, Spurgeon W. Wood III; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4 at Welcome Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl A. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
