Shelvia Whitman

Mrs. Shelvia Jean Reeves Whitman, 85, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at Walnut Ridge. She was born February 13, 1937, in Forsyth County to the late Lattie Reeves and Lettie Creed Reeves.  She was a lifetime member of Rural Hall Moravian Church. Shelvia owned and operated a Tupperware distribution business with her husband. After retiring from Tupperware, she went to work for the town of Rural Hall. She never met a stranger and enjoyed cooking. Shelvia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and tireless caregiver to her loved ones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Gray Whitman; and two sisters, Opal Freeman and Bonnie Ashburn. She is survived by her three children, Christine Whitman Coble, Clinton Whitman (Kelly), and Kyle Gray Whitman (Carey); six grandchildren, Jessie Whitman Spangler (Brad), Katelyn Coble, Amy Whitman, Marissa Coble, Jackson Whitman, and Jeremy Whitman; 1 great-grandson, Aiden Spangler; and beloved nieces and nephew. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Rural Hall Moravian Church with Rev. Andrew Craver officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rural Hall Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rural Hall Moravian Church.
