Shelton Odell Tally, Sr.

DATELINE: Walkertown Mr. Shelton Odell Tally, Jr. age 83 went to be with the Lord, Friday evening, June 12, 2009. Mr. Tally was born in Forsyth County, December 15, 1925 to the late Shelton Odell, Sr. and the late Golda Bonnie Moser Tally. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown, a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II in the 89th division and retired from the NC Department of Transportation (Division of Highways Construction Department) after 42 years of service. In addition to his parents Mr. Tally was preceded in death by one sister Marion Tally Davis. Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Betty Tally of the home. One daughter: Rebecca Lynn (Garry) Johnson of Florida, and one son: Daniel Shelton (Sheree) Tally of King. Three grandchildren: Eric Johnson, Shelby Tally and Jacob Tally. One sister: Peggy (Clarence ""Bill"") McKnight and one brother: Robert ""Bobby"" (Linda) Tally. A brother-in-law: Robert (Mary Jane) Davis. Several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Tuesday morning, June 16, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gardens of Memory in Walkertown by Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Monday evening June 15th from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Tom Hinson, Dr. Scott Moore, Dr. William Folds and the 5th floor Coronary I.C.U. staff at Forsyth Medical Center; also to our many relatives, friends and neighbors for their loving support during this time
